Vanderhorn / Expertise
Complex technology. Understanding comes first.
Vanderhorn brings together software development, automation, systems engineering and in-depth analysis—not as isolated technologies, but to understand complex technical challenges and develop useful solutions.
Start with the problem, not the technology.
Technology is a tool. The key is understanding the information, rules, experience and exceptions that define the problem, and turning them into a manageable solution.
A solution does not need to depend on AI to be intelligent or adaptive. Knowledge and experience can be embedded directly in software; AI can complement this where it offers demonstrable benefits and can be applied responsibly.
This can be very practical: a system can observe how a process responds, retain that experience and respond better next time. The principle predates today's AI technology; what matters is keeping learning and adaptation under control.
Areas of expertise
Software development — Translating domain-specific challenges into well-structured software that performs useful work.
Automation and information flows — Connecting data, documents and recurring processes, and automating them where useful.
Knowledge formalization — Making rules, context and exceptions explicit so software can apply them reliably.
Systems and infrastructure — Understanding the technical chain: components, networks, services and dependencies as one functioning system. Hands-on experience with Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) for virtualization and Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) for backup and recovery, including storage management and integration between hosts.
Practical integration — Connecting software and systems to existing workflows and technical environments without losing sight of how people work.
Analysis and structuring — Breaking complex technical problems into explicit components, relationships and decisions.
Understand → structure → automate → make useful.
This approach runs through current projects. DFP is a concrete example: first determine what a document is and which information matters, then decide how it should be processed.
Expertise without a helpdesk model.
Experience with infrastructure and systems does not mean Vanderhorn operates as a general IT support or on-demand helpdesk provider. The focus is on development, analysis, integration and technical challenges where understanding and structure make a difference.
